Instead of living on an island, we spend nine months on
a 30 foot sailboat touring the Caribbean Islands.
Our voyage begins in Martinique, and spans accross the Lesser
and Greater Antilles. The map on the right shows some of the
islands in the region. In November 2000, our boat heads south
towards St.Lucia, St.Vincent and the Grenadines.
By Christmas, we patrol the waters of Antigua slowly drifting
westwards with the North Equatorial current towards the Virgin
Islands and Puerto Rico.
From there, we take a month break in the Dominican Republic
and Cuba before heading back to Martinique...
HOW WE DO THIS?
Maintaining a web site aboard a sailboat far away from land is
not an easy task, so we need to come up with some clever ideas.
Trying to keep our expenses down, we bring along a donated 486
laptop computer to build basic web pages, and work on our e-correspondances.
Moreover, we carry a digital camera to save images and clips
to a disk and upload them in Internet Cafes.

THE SAILBOAT AND THE CREW
Our vessel named Zipolite is a Wauquiez
Gladiateur. It was built in France in 1977 and carries
2-4 persons quite comfortably. Two of us are permanently aboard,
while guests join up from time to time. Now a brief introduction
of the crew:
Jérôme Céceille,
the Captain, is originally from France, but has lived
most of his life in places such as Tunisia, Tahiti, Montréal
Canada, and today Guadeloupe. He takes a one year sabbatical
from teaching in French Guyana to make his lifelong dream
come true.
Stef Budai, first mate, is
the author of Sailriders and flies down from Montréal
for this unique opportunity. Armed with a camera and a
computer, he translates the Caribbean Adventure into words
and images that everyone can enjoy from the comfort of
his own home.
